[linc] linc is not cyberoam
About linc
linc is a free multiplatform client for
Cyberoam and 24online. Cyberoam is an
employee internet management system for corporate networks. 24online is a
subscriber access, authentication and accounting system for
broadband ISPs.
linc was started because the client software for these programs is only
supported on win32 platforms and the author needed to use it on *nix.
Supported features
- Implements the latest version of the protocol.
- Runs as a daemon which is ideal for running on servers
- Runs robustly even in the event of intermittent server and/or
communication failures
- Supports user suspend and resume using signals
- Supports either host level configuration via /etc/lincrc or user level
configuration via ~/.lincrc
- Compiles on GNU/Linux and FreeBSD. Should compile on any POSIX platform.
No guarantees. :)
Planned features
- Support for older versions of the protocol and the ability to choose
the version.
- Support for configuring the password in clear text.
- Support for monitoring and controlling the daemon via a unix domain
socket or FIFO thus paving the way for shell-like, web-based or graphical
interfaces.
